Understanding EPF Contributions

The EPF scheme is a joint effort between you and your employer. Here's how it works:

• Employee's Contribution: You contribute a mandatory 12% of your basic salary plus dearness allowance. You can choose to contribute more through the Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF).
• Employer's Contribution: Your employer also contributes 12%. This is split into two parts: 8.33% goes to the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS) (up to a wage ceiling), and the remaining **3.67%** goes to your EPF account. Our calculator uses the 3.67% that directly builds your corpus.
